About the job

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join the OpenStack Observability team. In this role, you will be working on a globally distributed team in the middle ground between OpenStack and OpenShift (Kubernetes). As part of the OpenStack Telemetry team, you will be contributing to the Service Telemetry Framework, which is a set of OpenShift microservice applications to provide monitoring and alerting for OpenStack. You will be contributing to the Observability stack within OpenStack and OpenShift. Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with Software Architects and Leads to refine product requirements
  • Collaborate with Software Quality Engineers to review and enhance test plans
  • Design, document, and create high-quality and extensible software for OpenStack or OpenShift Telemetry and Monitoring projects
  • Create and extend robust unit tests and continuous infrastructure (CI) infra or tests based on past experiences with test frameworks and methodologies
  • Collaborate and land code upstream and across Red Hat development organizations

What you will bring

  • Experienced Software engineer, especially with Golang; C and Python are a plus
  • Experience with software configuration management tools, like Ansible or Puppet, and with GitHub, GitLab, or Gerritt
  • Experience with development best practices on Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Experience with bug or issue tracking tools like Bugzilla and Jira

Following are considered as plus:
  • Experience with CI systems like Jenkins, Zuul, or Prow
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes Observability projects like Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana
  • Knowledge of OpenStack and OpenStack Deployment Frameworks, like TripleO
